Opera Software today announces that Telsey Telecommunications, a leading manufacturer of IP set-top boxes, has selected the Opera browser once again to provide full-featured Internet browsing on the company’s WAVES set-top boxes. Opera first partnered with Telsey in 2004 to deliver Opera 7 to the WAVES product family. Due to the success of the WAVES boxes, Telsey has now renewed its commitment to integrate the Opera browser to power full Web surfing and dynamic Web applications on their devices.
With Opera, Subscribers using Telsey’s Opera-powered WAVES set-top boxes can access all their favorite online content from the convenience of their living rooms. Opera’s unique rendering technology will automatically enhance online content with its anti- flicker solution and TV-optimized fonts, creating the best living room surfing experience possible.
“When it comes to full Web browsing that is optimized for surfing on your TV with a remote, there is no better choice than Opera,” says Roberto Mestriner, CTO, Telsey Telecommunications. “Opera is a pioneer in its field, always one step ahead in terms of providing a feature-rich Web experience that actually looks good on something other than a desktop computer. When surfing Opera on a Telsey STB, the Web actually looks like it was made to be surfed from the convenience of your couch.”
At IBC Telsey presents its latest hybrid IPTV STB featuring both DVB-T and DVB-C tuners. The STB FS600 delivers innovative functionalities such as PVR, High Definition TV, MPEG4 and ground-breaking self-installing tools. The IP STB FS600 family is based on cutting-edge Single Chip Technology that provides cost effective solutions while granting the highest performance required for High Definition and Low Bit Rate codec.
“We are pleased that Telsey has commited itself to the importance of full Web browsing on its family of STBs,” says Scott Hedrick, Executive Vice President, Opera Software. “Telsey is a long-time leader in the STB market and provides winning solutions to its customers. We will continue to work closely with them to ensure the best Web experience possible and to continue to innovate the offerings on this box, so that customers will always have access to the latest in Web technology.”
