The Full Web and AJAX on a Chip for TV: The Opera browser is now pre-ported to Sigma’s SMP8630 chipsets

Opera Software, a global leader in Web browsertechnologies, today announced its partnership with Sigma Designs (Nasdaq: SIGM),leader in digital media processing for consumer electronics. The Opera Web browserwill be available pre-ported to Sigma’s SMP8630 family of chipsets, and available tomanufacturers in the Opera 8.5 SDK (Software Development Kit) for Devices (TM). Thispartnership accelerates time-to-market for OEMs that are including a Web browser ontheir Sigma-powered devices.

 

Sigma, a leading provider of powerful system-on-a-chip solutions, enables powerful,cost effective products for the advanced requirements of devices such as digital mediaadapters, IPTV set-top boxes and networked DVD players. OEMs including Sigma’sSMP8630 family of chipsets in their products will now be able to easily add the full-featured and small-sized Opera Internet browser for a fast Internet surfingexperience from their devices.
