Opera goes greener in Fortress data center

Opera Software chooses Fortress Colocation Centers as newest North American data center

Oslo, Norway – September 29, 2011

Making the mobile Web not only faster, but also greener, Opera Software has chosen Fortress Colocation Centers as its newest provider for its North American data center services. The Fortress offering of a renewable green energy source, low PUE and high availability of fiber and fiber providers was instrumental in helping Opera choose Fortress as the primary colocation provider in the Pacific Northwest.

This facility will house the network architecture needed to meet the continued growth and success of Opera’s operations in North America, with an environmentally friendly track record to boot.

“Opera Software is an excellent example of today’s high density/high availability customers looking for data center operators that offer clean energy, a low PUE, operational reliability and redundancy,” said Timothy Doherty, CEO, Fortress Colocation Centers. “Opera Software chose Fortress over several other International and National providers for the same reasons many other Fortune 500 financial, ecommerce and content providers have chosen Fortress: value, commitment and quality.”

“Going green means going in the right direction,” said Trygve Jarholt, Program Manager for Hosting, Opera Software. “Opera is more than doubling the traffic each year, and we need partners who can support our requirements as a fast growing, data center intensive company, as well as keeping Mother Nature happy. Fortress is supporting and strengthens the green profile of Opera. In Fortress, we found a partner that can provide us with efficient data center services with a low PUE, and has renewable energy supplied to the data center.”
