Opera Software today announced that The North Face® has launched its first TV app, enriching the video and adventure offering of the Opera TV Store, Opera’s HTML 5 application platform for Smart TV devices.

The North Face - Opera TV Store

Using Opera TV Snap, a next-generation TV app technology with the ability to transform online video into apps for connected TV, The North Face has been able to quickly create a TV app to be distributed on Operas TV Store at no cost.

The North Face app features a great selection of adventure videos, from expeditions to athlete interviews and gear reviews, all set to thrill and entertain you. Watch them all in high definition from the comfort of your sofa and get inspired for your next adventure!

“What better way to experience The North Face videos than via TV’s larger screen?” says Daniel Nordberg, Director of Business Development, Opera Software. “Thanks to the simplicity of the Opera TV Snap technology, many more viewers can now enjoy The North Face content from the comfort of their couches before hitting the great outdoors.”

“The North Face strives to be a leader in the digital arena seeking innovative ideas and partners. Be it web, mobile or TV our goal is to inspire and engage to a global movement of outdoor exploration.” comments Michele Scarano, Senior Digital Marketing Manager, The North Face EMEA.

The Opera TV Store gives users a rich selection of entertaining apps and provides one of the most advanced web development environments for developers. It’s based on HTML5 and built on Opera’s advanced browsing engine. It has already launched globally on Smart TVs and Blu-ray Disc players from Sony and TCL and it has also been selected by TiVo, Humax, Hisense and MediaTek.

The Opera TV ecosystem spans more than just the Opera TV Store, with the Opera TV browser and the Opera Devices SDK powering the web experience on tens of millions of devices, including Sony, Samsung, Philips, TCL, Sharp, Loewe, Boxee, Freesat+, Vestel and Altech.
