Download and browse with Opera Mini to help underprivileged children get education
Opera Software and Yayasan Cinta Anak Bangsa (YCAB) are inviting millions of mobile internet users in Indonesia to participate in Browse for Change, a campaign to help provide affordable basic education for underprivileged and school-dropout youths. In this campaign, Opera is collaborating with YCAB’s HOLD (House of Learning and Development) program, which has directly impacted the lives of over 15,000 underprivileged youths and school dropouts.
From October 22, 2013, to January 21, 2014, mobile internet users in Indonesia can participate by using Opera Mini, and Opera Software will donate Rp1,000 for each user who both download and browse with Opera Mini. Opera’s donations will facilitate YCAB’s 22 learning houses across Indonesia.
“This initiatives is important for Opera, as we believe that access to internet, just like education, empowers people by increasing their knowledge and skills,” says Lars Boilesen, CEO, Opera Software. “Indonesia is home to the second-largest number of Opera Mini users in the world, and we are keen to show our appreciation by joining hands with YCAB in the Browse for Change campaign.”
Opera Mini users in Indonesia can participate in this campaign by following these steps:
- Visit http://micropage.opera.com/bfc/.
- Download Opera Mini.
- Browse the internet with your newly installed Opera Mini to make a donation.
- Track the amount of donation at http://micropage.opera.com/bfc/share
- Tell your friends about the Browse for Change campaign through social media.
Opera Mini reflects Opera Software’s beliefs that internet and learning possibilities should be accessible to all, on any device – even the simplest mobile phones with small screens and limited memory.
Opera Software and YCAB believe that education is a fundamental right of every single child, and are actively making that a reality in Indonesia.
“We look forward to helping more underprivileged children reach their dreams with donations from the Browse for the Change campaign. We invite the more than 63 million internet users in Indonesia to take part in this valuable effort to bring education and learning to the children of Indonesia,” says Iskandar Irwan Hukom, YCAB Foundation Secretary of General.
Be a part of the Browse for Change campaign: download the Opera Mini web browser for mobile devices from http://micropage.opera.com/bfc/ between October 22, 2013, and January, 21 2014, and contribute to the YCAB Foundation.
