Kyocera Goes for Opera in Mobile Product Range

Opera Software ASA today announced that Kyocera willinclude Opera’s Smartphone Edition in upcoming products,for the first time allowing for full Web access on devicein Asia by employing Opera’s Small-Screen Renderingâ„¢ (SSRâ„¢).
Opera’s SSRâ„¢ technology has cracked thesmall-screen problem that has plagued the mobile Internet for years.With SSRâ„¢, Opera reformats thepresentation of pages made for the desktop Web to fit on smallerscreens, eliminating the need for horizontal scrolling. Opera’sSmartphone Edition uses the same core as the Windows version,guaranteeing access and successful rendering of Web pages codedin “Street HTML.” Street HTMLrefers to the non-standard code off most Web sites.

Kyocera is the first major Asian manufacturer to use Opera on itsproducts as part of its strategy to boost market share in Asia.

Kyocera will be the first manufacturer in Japan to support full HTMLrendering, offering full Internet access to savvy Japanese consumers already accustomedto mobile data communication. Since Opera also supports cHTMLand XHTML, Japanese mobile users will now be able to get thefull Internet while also being able to access their old favorite mobile sites.
