Register Opera and receive personal support and Power Kit
Oslo, Norway – Sept. 17, 2002
Starting today, Opera’s user communities will be the primary contact point between Opera and its users with support questions. Through its Web-based forums, newsgroups and mailing lists, Opera hopes to build and support its user communities by providing existing users with improved service.
Registered Opera users will still receive personal e-mail support from Opera customer service after filling in an online form. Both banner-ad and registered users are encouraged to first seek answers and interact with other Opera users around the world through the Opera forums on the MyOpera community portal, online tutorials, newsgroups, and mailing lists.
“There are now 15 million downloaded versions of Opera running around the world, and the number is growing by almost one million users every month,” said Jon S. von Tetzchner. “By encouraging our non-paying users to find the answers to their queries in our Opera forums and newsgroups, we are better able to serve all our users despite our limited resources.”
There are new incentives for users who would like to register the browser. As of tomorrow, all new registered users will receive an Opera Power Kit, complete with an Opera Power CD with the latest browser version, mouse pad, and Opera sticker.
Users may find they will receive prompter replies through the forums, which are actively used throughout the day by members of the Opera community. In addition, Opera support staff will monitor the forums and newsgroups and answer questions whenever possible. The tutorials on the Opera Web site also contain exhaustive answers to problems users may encounter while using the browser.
In addition to removing the banner ad, Opera encourages its users to register the Opera Web browser to maintain access to personal e-mail support from the help desk.
