Opera Software today announced its one millionth download of Opera Mobile from its corporate Web site www.opera.com. This number is in addition to the many more copies that are downloaded from partner and other download sites. Opera’s revolutionizing Web browsing experience for mobile phones has quickly propelled it to become the absolute most popular 3rd party application on the Symbian OS. In two short years, the software company has delivered its mobile browser for various devices on various platforms with many millions licenses sold to handset manufacturers and operators. The rapid adoption of Opera’s mobile technology has transformed the industry and placed Opera in the lead of full Web browsing.
Before Opera introduced SSR (Small-Screen Rendering), the technology that displays Web pages in a way that is entirely customized to best suit a handheld device’s screen size and resolution, the telecom industry had lost hope in an open mobile Internet. SSR got the ball rolling again with users demonstrating enthusiasm for the ability to access normal Web pages reformatted to their screen size. Two years after the introduction of SSR, Opera is now in the lead in this market, bridging existing operator services with the full Internet.

Free downloads are available for the Sony Ericsson P800 and P900.
