Oslo, Norway – February 12, 2010

Opera Software today launched the Indonesian language version of its Web site, www.opera.com. Now, users surfing the Web with Bahasa Indonesia language settings will be automatically directed to the new, localized Opera site. The Opera.com translation was made possible due to the efforts of the loyal Opera community in Indonesia, including My Opera Indonesia and Opera Campus Crew Indonesia.

Opera has a strong following in Indonesia, as the country steadily ranks second in terms of Opera Mini usage worldwide. Indonesia has shown its enthusiasm for Opera with exponential user growth rates month-on-month. Opera users in Indonesia can also enjoy a faster and safer Web experience on desktop; and Opera’s innovative Opera Link technology allows users to sync their desktop browser settings with their mobile browser. “When Indonesians visit Opera.com to download our browsers, we want them to be greeted in their own language. This country has shown steadfast loyalty to our products, and we are proud to be helping so many millions of people get online,” said Jon von Tetzchner, Co-founder, Opera Software. “Localization is important to Opera, and it is impressive to see that the Opera Indonesia community has come together to make this translated version of our Web site possible.”

For the past 15 years, Opera has delivered Web browsers and browser-based products to all types of devices. Opera Mini has enjoyed particular success in Indonesia, due to its ability to run on multiple mobile platforms, superior speed and performance, and compression technology. Compression of Web pages results in a faster surfing experience and the overall reduction of data charges.
