Tele2 and Opera drive mobile Web growth across Europe

Oslo, Norway – March 4, 2010

Opera and Tele2 today signed a frame agreement for Opera Mini. The frame agreement enables Tele2 operations in Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden, Croatia and the Netherlands to offer one-click access to the full Web to their subscribers.

Surfing with Opera Mini, rather than a natively installed browser, allows users to enjoy a faster and easier surfing experience with all their favorite features from Opera’s desktop browser, including tabs, bookmarks, password manager and Speed Dial. Opera Mini’s server-side compression technology helps reduce monthly data charges by sending less information to the phone, which makes page loading quicker and lowers costs.

“We are proud that Tele2 has selected Opera Mini. The Web browser delivers a smart surfing solution that helps to drive the mobile Internet on handsets, simply because it is so easy and inexpensive,” said Lars Boilesen, CEO, Opera Software.

Opera Mini in numbers

More than 50 million people used Opera Mini in January 2010, viewing 23.3 billion pages. Data in Opera Mini is compressed by up to 90 percent, making pages load faster and keeping costs to a minimum.
