Opera Mini launches in Samsung Galaxy S in selected markets

Oslo, Norway – December 9, 2010

Opera Software today announced that its Opera Mini mobile browser is now available on the Galaxy S, the latest Android-platform smartphone from Samsung Electronics. Opera Mini will first be preloaded in select markets during the initial phase and can be downloaded from the website by current Galaxy S users.

Samsung has been one of the top partners for Opera since 2006, launching numerous Opera-powered handsets. Today, Samsung Galaxy S users can also experience the fastest and most popular mobile browser, Opera Mini.

Opera Mini is renowned for its ability to compress data by up to 90 percent before sending content to the phone, resulting in faster page loading and improved speed. This compression dramatically reduces data load, which translates to lower browsing costs when on a pay-per-MB data plan or when on expensive roaming plans. Opera Mini already has 76.3 million monthly users worldwide, optimized for more than 3000 different handsets.

“We are very glad to provide the best mobile Internet experience to Samsung’s Galaxy S users and Opera fans in selected markets,” said Lars Boilesen, CEO, Opera Software. “We also hope that global fans can get the chance in the near future.”
