Meet the smarter TV

Opera showcases its latest TV developments in London

London, UK – March 19, 2012

Opera Software keeps impressing the TV world with smart technologies and is now set to show off a bunch of its latest product demos at this year’s IP&TV World Forum in London.

Come by Opera’s booth and take a look at how Opera is turning your smartphone into a smart remote control to smoothly navigate the web, write your email fast or harness your favorite HTML5 game. With this solution, developers can create their own apps, defining new entertaining ways for handsets and TVs to interact.

Opera also presents the Opera TV browser, optimized for Linux and Android platforms. Bringing its experience from providing web browsing to over 250 million users, Opera is in pole position to take TV browsing interactivity to the next level. With new platforms and cool features, such as the companion screen interaction, this premium browsing experience is now coming to the TV world in a huge way. The Opera TV browser is powered by the latest version of the Opera Devices SDK, now also available for manufacturers around the world.

The Opera TV Store, an HTML5-based app store, packed with new features such as WebGLâ„¢ support, is another must-see during IP&TV World Forum. On top of that, Opera is unleashing an enhanced version of Opera for HbbTV, with support for the HbbTV 1.5 specification and extended OIPF support for a more entertaining web experience on connected devices.

“Our guys have spent a lot of time in front of TVs lately,” said Lars Boilesen, CEO, Opera Software. “This has allowed us to bring manufacturers, operators and developers around the world a wide range of new smart solutions that will entertain their users. Come around and see what’s so addictive in today’s television and what will be even more addictive tomorrow.”
