MIPS and Opera demonstrating optimized technology at CCBN in Beijing and IP&TV World Forum in London

MIPS Technologies and Opera Software have teamed up to bring the powerful Opera Devices Software Development Kit (SDK) to the MIPS processor architecture. Based on this collaboration, the Opera TV Store and the Opera TV browser with WebGLâ„¢ support are now available for MIPS-based DTVs, set-top boxes and other digital home devices.
The Opera TV Store is a complete HTML5-based solution providing a collection of high-quality web-based apps that are optimized for HD-ready TVs and standard remote control devices. The Opera TV browser brings Opera’s deep experience with mobile and desktop browsing to provide a premium and familiar web experience to TVs. Both the Opera TV browser and the Opera TV Store are powered by the Opera Devices SDK 3.3, the latest version of the Opera’s development toolkit for TV manufacturers.

Upcoming demonstrations
MIPS Technologies will demonstrate the Opera Devices SDK solutions running on MIPS-Based devices during the China Content Broadcasting Network (CCBN) Exhibition being held March 21-23 in Beijing. Advanced demos will include the recently released version of the Opera TV Store, the Opera TV browser on Linux and Android platforms, and WebGL for the 3-D web experience on Linux. CCBN attendees can see the demonstrations in the MIPS booth: General Service Building, meeting room #214.
Opera will demonstrate its enhanced Opera TV Store and new Opera TV browser for Android and Linux platforms on the MIPS-Based BCM7425 SoC from Broadcom at the IP&TV World Forum in London, being held March 20 – March 22, in booth 95 in the Olympia Exhibition Center.
