Use the “Streaming” GX Profile to separate your streaming life from work or school and continue watching videos on the go with the new Video Pickup
Oslo, Norway – Today, Opera GX launches two new features, GX Profiles and Video Pickup. GX Profiles let users create several “copies” of Opera GX to separate and customize the browser they use to stream or to study from the one they use for other private activities by customizing each of these experiences. Video Pickup allows people to start watching Twitch or a video from another popular streaming platform on their PC and to continue on their phone right where they left off.
GX Profiles brings the next level of browser modding:
- “Streaming” is the perfect GX Profile for streamers. It mutes all their tabs by default, preventing them from getting banned for using copyrighted music
- “Potato” is a bare bones version of Opera GX, allowing you to focus on the essential things in the browser
- “Rogue” can come in handy when multiple people use the same computer – it clears all browsing data upon closing.
- “Default” is the regular Opera GX experience
- “Custom” is a fully customizable profile
Streamers can create a dedicated profile to ensure nothing gets in the way of that perfect broadcast, or viewers can make sure no unwanted discord notifications will distract them from watching the stream. Even if they just want to disappear from the online world for a few hours or grind away in their favorite MMO without distractions, GX Profiles has the right one for you.
GX Profiles can be accessed and customized through the Easy Setup within Opera GX on desktop. Every new profile appears as a differently-colored Opera GX icon in the PC taskbar, giving users a feeling of having multiple browsers in one and allowing them to easily switch between profiles from the PC taskbar.

The other feature being released today is Video Pickup that lets anybody watching their favorite creators on their PC send that video from Twitch or another popular video streaming platform directly to Opera GX on their phones and pick it up right where they left off. Simply hit the ‘Continue watching on mobile’ button on a Twitch- or other video you’re watching in Opera GX on your PC and continue exactly where you left off on GX mobile (after you scan a QR code). Video Pickup can also be used to turn a mobile device into a companion screen.
“Take the videos you start watching at home anywhere you want – that was the goal behind creating Video Pickup. There’s no need to bother with rewinding or fast forwarding to the right spot. We made sure Opera GX knows where you left off,” added Kocemba.
