Meet Opera’s new minimalist browser
Oslo, Norway – 15 October 2026 – Opera (NASDAQ: OPRA) has never been shy about adding features to its browsers. With Opera Air, however, the challenge is a different one: knowing when less is enough.
Opera Air is minimalist by design. It is built to help people focus on what they opened the browser to do so that they can complete it and get back to life offline.
Air keeps distractions to a minimum to give people more room to focus on what matters. The interface starts clean, with the freedom to add additional tools when needed. Soundscapes incorporate music and ambient sounds into the browser to help people focus or unwind. Breaks offer short moments to pause and recharge.

“Creating simple software is one of the hardest things to do,” said Maciej Kocemba, Product Director at Opera. “There is always another feature you could add, another button or choice you could give people. We think of Air like an uncluttered desk: the tools you need are there, but nothing is fighting for your attention.”
Air starts with less. You decide the rest.
Air starts simple, with a clean interface and additional tools available when wanted. Messaging and social media apps can also be added to the sidebar.
The redesign also gives Air a new visual look. Refreshed wallpapers use open spaces, perspective, and natural textures, automatically adapting to Light and Dark themes.
Less on the surface doesn’t mean less underneath. Air comes with a built-in ad blocker for faster, less cluttered browsing and a free VPN for added privacy and protection online.
Air comes with a soundtrack.
Quiet doesn’t have to mean silence. Air’s Soundscapes give the browser its own soundtrack, with four categories — Focus, Relax, Work, and Ambience. Ambience brings sounds such as Sea Waves and Spring Forest, while five new Soundscapes feature original music composed specifically for Opera Air. Among them is Hyperfocus, a more energetic track designed for settling into a task and staying there.

Focus isn’t always about staying at the desk, though. Sometimes, the best way to refocus is to step away for a moment. Breaks bring short breathing exercises and neck stretches directly into the sidebar, with optional reminders at chosen intervals.

The New Opera Air: Less clutter, more space; less noise, more ambience; less interruption, more flow.
Like your browsing session should, this press release has an ending too.
