Partnership between Positivo and Opera to pre-embed Opera Mini on phones

The agreement focuses on the large Brazilian feature phone market

Opera Software and Positivo today announced a partnership to deliver the Opera Mini mobile browser pre-embedded on the Positivo messaging phone model P50. Focused on the Brazilian consumer market, the Positivo P50 will ship with Opera Mini, comes with three SIM card slots and offers web access, social networking, instant messaging, radio, MP3 and MP4 video playback, and camera for photos and videos recording.

Opera Mini’s unique feature set makes it the leading mobile browser in the world, with more than 231 million users. Opera Mini’s page compression can save users up to 90 percent on their mobile browsing costs and also speeds up browsing significantly. The latest version comes with the Smart Page – a one-page summary of all the updates from a user’s Facebook and Twitter feeds, as well as news and the ability to add other feeds to your page.

The Positive P50 messaging phones with Opera Mini are now available for sale with the browser icon on the home screen. “Positivo’s feature phones are perfectly targeted to the typical Opera Mini user in Brazil. A recent survey of Opera Mini users in Brazil revealed that 92% of users access the internet through their mobile phones. Only 14% said they access the internet from their home computers. Undoubtedly, the Brazilian market presents a great opportunity for growth by mobile browser”, says Sabrina Zaremba, Regional Manager Latin America, Opera.
