Opera Masti: Opera Plans India Office. Browser Innovator Continues Asian Expansion.

Oslo, Norway – February 20, 2006

Opera Software today announced its intention to open a development office in India. The planned office, to be located in Chandigarh, will initially employ quality assurance testers supporting Opera’s full range of product offerings and Opera’s ‘Open the Web’ evangelists. Current job openings are available at http://www.opera.com/jobs/.

Rather than outsourcing, Opera decided that opening the local office would be the most efficient way to improve its products while attracting the most skilled employee base. The location is just a few hours from several of the most respected technology institutes in India. Chandigarh is already home to leading technology companies, creating myriad opportunities for partnerships and business development.

“India presents Opera with unique opportunities to explore new business opportunities and tap into a tremendous reservoir of skilled individuals,” says Jon S. von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera Software. “The country’s tremendous growth in both Internet users and mobile subscribers sets a strong foundation for our business objectives. At the same time, investing in the technical talent India produces will help accelerate innovation in the desktop, mobile and device markets.”

Opera India joins Opera’s other Asian offices in China and Japan.
