In a Flash: Opera and Adobe enter into reseller agreement for Macromedia® Flash® Player 7 SDK

Oslo, Norway – September 6, 2006

Opera Software today announced that the Opera for Devices SDK now supports the Macromedia© Flash© Player 7 SDK from Adobe. Flash Player SDK is the profile of the Flash Player developed for consumer electronics devices. Opera customers who are running the full-featured Opera browser on products such as portable media players, HDTVs, set-top boxes and even game consoles now have the option to include Flash 7 on their devices.

Opera’s support for Flash enriches the full Internet experience, allowing for Flash-based Web pages to be displayed on the device screen. With Flash, Web surfing on a device is now a more desktop-like browsing experience.

“Flash is an important rich content format on the Web, and in order for the browsing experience on a device to be as natural as possible, it is essential for Opera to support Flash,” says Scott Hedrick, Executive Vice President, Opera. “Opera and Adobe have long been successful partners, and we will continue to work closely together to further enhance the Web browsing experience on any device.”

Currently on the market, the Nokia 770 features the Opera browser with Flash integrated as a plug-in to deliver a superior handheld Web experience.

“Consumer electronics manufacturers are embracing Flash technology because of the rich user experience it can bring across devices,” said Gary Kovacs, vice president of product management and marketing, Mobile and Device Solutions at Adobe. “Opera continues to innovate by bringing their browser technology to new classes of consumer products, and Flash will now be an integral part of their product offering.”
