A Web of wonders: Opera Software exhibits the latest in mobile browser innovation at the Smartphone Show

Oslo, Norway and London, United Kingdom – October 20, 2008

At the Symbian Smartphone Show’s annual display of progress and innovation in the mobile world, Opera Software will exhibit its wealth of Web wonders at booth #25. In addition to its demo-filled exhibit, Opera CEO Jon von Tetzchner will speak during today’s “Innovate Collaborate Accelerate” seminar from 3:30 – 4 p.m. on the topic of “Widgets and the one-click mobile Internet experience”.

During this two-day event, Opera-powered devices will be readily accessible to Smartphone aficionados looking to challenge theirassumptions about the mobile Web. Visitors will want to get their hands on the freshly launched Opera Mobile 9.5 beta with Widgets. Widgets create a way for users to personalize mobile Web content and allow one-click access to these online favorites.

“Opera has long made development on the Symbian platform a top priority. We have recently made available our mobile browser with Widgets for the Symbian-based UIQ platform and we intend to release this browser for Series 60 phones in 2009,” says Jon von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera Software. “Our membership in the Symbian Foundation is also key to drive development on this mobile platform.”

Smartphone Show visitors will experience Opera Mobile 9.5 beta Widgetsfirsthand on:

  • UIQ-based Sony Ericsson G700, G900 and P1
  • Windows Mobile-based HTC Diamond, Samsung Omnia and Sony Ericsson Experia

Opera will also demo the following Web-enabled devices:

  • Opera Mini on the Nokia 6600 Slide and the Sony Ericsson w980i
  • Opera for Devices on the Nintendo Wii and ARCHOS Generation 5 and 6portable media players
