Navigating online and on-the-road: Opera is on board the new nüvifone M20 from Garmin-Asus

Taipei, Taiwan – August 20, 2009

Garmin-Asus and Opera today announced that the Opera Mobile 9.5 Web browser has been selected to complete the trio of tools on the nüvifone M20, a powerful, new navigation and communication device that seamlessly integrates Windows Mobile Pro, Garmin navigation and the Opera Mobile 9.5 Web browser. The nüvifone M20 was initially released in Taiwan on Aug 19 and later in Asia.

With Opera Mobile 9.5, users of the nüvifone M20 can get online while on the go, easily navigating their favorite Web sites with a few finger taps. Opera Mobile includes panning and zooming technology for better viewing of selected content, plus useful features such as auto-complete, a password manager and a pop-up handler. This allows busy professionals to type less and retrieve online information faster and more efficiently.

“Convenience and simplicity is at the heart of the nüvifone M20, and Opera is proud to play a part in the success of this device,” says Jon von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera Software. “Garmin and ASUS are industry leaders in making products that truly help people in their everyday lives. This hybrid phone, composed of best-in-breed solutions, promises to keep you connected, no matter what you are doing or where you are. This is the phone we”ve been waiting for.”

With everything you need inside, the nüvifone M20 with Opera Mobile is designed with the multitasking professional in mind. Opera gives users the tools they need for efficient retrieving and sharing of information, including tabbed browsing, shared links and images via SMS/MMS, the ability to copy and paste text, as well as the convenience of calling a phone number directly from a Web page.

“With our promise of easy navigation, we wanted to bundle a browser on the nüvifone M20 that would help users get online and stay in touch as simply as possible. Web browsing is a key feature on this device, and we believe that a superior mobile Web experience will make the lives of busy people everywhere easier,” said Benson Lin, Vice President & General Manager, Personal Mobile Devices Business Unit, Asus Handheld Business Group. “The nüvifone M20 helps you navigate through the chaos of your life with smart solutions such as Opera Mobile.”
