Opera continues bringing more people online

EVERCOSS partners with Opera to offer free internet access to users in Indonesia

To make it easier for first-time mobile-phone users to access the web, Opera Software and EVERCOSS, a leading Indonesian smartphone manufacturer, are partnering to provide three hours of free internet to phone users in Indonesia.

The free internet access is available via the Opera Web Pass service, for two weeks, starting May 20, 2015.

Opera Web Pass encourages users who have never used their phones to access the internet to get online through a simple, one-click process. Users can activate 15MB of free internet access that can be use for 3 hours to access websites across social-networking sites, news, classifieds, online shopping and more, all for free.

This sneak preview gives them a taste of what the internet has to offer and how it can be useful to them.

The free web pass service targeted for basic phone users who are Telkomsel subscribers.

Ricky Tanudibrata, Chief Marketing Officer of EVERCOSS, says, “EVERCOSS and Opera share the same mission: to support the Indonesian people by providing internet access. EVERCOSS is honored to be part of this mission and expects that our contribution will spread a good cause for Indonesian development in general.”

Opera Web Pass, affordable and easy to understand

Users access Opera Web Pass via the Opera Mini browser, one of the world’s most popular web browsers. It works on almost any phone offers users data savings of up to 90% for free. Opera Web Pass is the alternative to  complicated data plans, providing affordable mobile internet through easy-to-understand data packages that are based on time or content, rather than megabytes.

An opportunity to bring more people online

“Presently, there are over 30 million active monthly Opera Mini users in Indonesia. This is a fast-growing market; with more and more users buying internet-enabled handsets. Opera Web Pass offers users a good incentive for them to start browsing from their phones,” says Lars Boilesen, CEO of Opera Software.

To enjoy three hours of free internet, users just need to click on the Sponsored Web Pass icon on the Speed Dial page of Opera Mini to enter the web pass store. From here, users must select the EVERCOSS web pass to activate their free internet access. They will also need to complete a survey from EVERCOSS.
