Oslo, Norway – 28 April 2025 – Opera GX today announced a partnership with the popular street view-based game GeoGuessr, to become the Official Browser of the World Championship 2025, taking place this summer. To further support the community, there will be a surprise for fans of the iconic Opera GX Man avatar within GeoGuessr.

GeoGuessr is a widely popular online geography game with a massive global player base, where players explore random street view locations and guess their position on a map. Using visual clues, they earn points based on guess accuracy.
Last year’s World Championship in Stockholm saw 24 finalists compete, reaching a peak online viewership of nearly 300,000 across platforms including Twitch and YouTube.
The strategic cooperation will see Opera GX powering the entire GeoGuessr World Championship competition, ensuring performance for all players, further enhanced by Opera GX’s signature GX Control feature, which allows users to fine-tune resource allocation for optimal stability and smooth gameplay even during intense browser-based gaming sessions. In addition, Opera GX is creating a GX Man avatar which soon will be available for purchase in GeoGuessr, with all profits contributing to the prize pool.
