Opera Mobile beats competition to win mobile browser awards from Smartphone and Pocket PC Magazine
Oslo, Norway – November 22, 2007
If you’re looking for the best browser for your Pocket PC or Smartphone, look no further. Opera Mobile, the browser of choice for feature rich phones developed by Opera Software, has been recognized as the best mobile browser for both Windows-based Pocket PC and Smartphones at the 2007 Best Software Awards by Smartphone & Pocket PC magazine.
Nominations were open to all providers and vendors of mobile Internet technology and applications were selected by a judging panel of experts from the wireless community. Opera Mobile was nominated to compete against its sister product, Opera Mini, and ThunderHawk in the Internet browsers and Web utilities category for Windows-based Pocket PCs. In the Smartphone Web browser category, Opera Mobile again beat fellow product Opera Mini and Skweezer in a heated race.
“Fourteen independent Windows Mobile experts selected Opera Mobile as the winner in the all-important Internet Browser category in the 2007 Best Software Awards. Congratulations to the Opera Mobile team,” says Hal Goldstein, Executive Editor, Awards Administrator, Smartphone & Pocket PC magazine.
Judges of the Smartphone & Pocket PC magazine’s 2007 Best Software Awards praised Opera Mobile for its tabbed browsing (Pocket PC), dual viewing modes, page rendering capabilities and Flash support. These features, according to one of the judges, make Opera Mobile “the best desktop-like browser for smartphones when compared to Internet Explorer.”
Opera Mobile is the browser of choice for leading handset manufacturers including Sony Ericsson, Motorola, HTC, KDDI, Kyocera, and many more. Opera Mobile is a proven, versatile and comprehensive solution which delivers high performance browsing on feature rich phones, powering greater end-user online productivity and fueling higher data ARPU. In addition to smartphones, Opera is deployed on millions of portable Web-enabled devices such as handheld gaming consoles, set-top boxes and media players.
“We are honored to receive this prestigious award,” says Scott Hedrick, Senior Vice President, Business Solutions, Opera Software. “Opera’s dominance in both categories reflects and validates Opera’s superiority in delivering the best Internet experience across all platforms. It is an encouragement to our team as we continue to strive forward in delivering products which differentiates us from the competition.”
Recent awards that have also recognized Opera’s distinction in creating innovative solutions that deliver the full Web include ‘Most Innovative Consumer Deployment’ awarded to Opera Mini by Mobile Internet World 2007.
