Opera for Android comes by default on Huawei smartphones and tablets shipped to Russia

Opera Software and Huawei, leading global ICT solutions provider, are today announcing that the Opera for Android browser will be preinstalled on most of Huawei’s smartphone and tablet models shipped to Russia.

The first batch of smartphones and tablets with Opera for Android preinstalled has already been shipped to Russia and is now available on the market. These smartphone models are Ascend G6, G730, Y600, Y530, and Y330. In addition, Opera has been preinstalled on a variety of Huawei tablets, such as the MediaPad X1 (3G and LTE), MediaPad M1 (3G and LTE), MediaPad 10 Link+ (3G and LTE). Most of the new smartphone and tablet models shipped to Russia will have Opera for Android as a default browser.

“Through our cooperation with Huawei, Russian users will now be able to enjoy reliable and fast internet access, no matter which network condition they browse the web with. The Opera for Android browser gives users the easiest and fastest way to discover a world of new content on Android phones. This agreement is in line with our growth strategy, aimed to forge partnerships with large manufacturers of mobile devices, to bring the best internet experience to our users,” says Lars Boilesen, CEO, Opera Software.

“Preinstalling Opera on our devices is yet another step towards enhancing user experience on our smartphones and tablets. We do our best to provide our users with maximum functionality at a reasonable price, and that is why we are preinstalling the Opera browser on different Huawei devices, from low-end to flagship models,” says Alexey Gromakov, Marketing Director, Huawei Consumer Business Group Russia.
